About the project
The new development adjacent to the Mall has allowed the opportunity to revitalise the Chinatown Mall with more gardens, greenery, and seating.
Our vision is to create a more inviting and activated space that incorporates new seating areas, creative lighting and more greenery for shoppers, diners and visitors to enjoy.
The Chinatown Mall is an iconic destination in Brisbane that has a long and significant cultural history. These works to revitalise the Mall will deliver a better experience for residents and visitors and create even more opportunities to activate this Mall during the day and night.
Project details
The works will include:
- installing three new planter garden beds
- installing new low set seating
- installing new decorative lighting and light poles
- moving the decorative carp installation further into the Mall
- retaining the braille trail.
Impacts during construction
Businesses and residents near the works may experience an increase in noise, vibration and dust from the works.
Given the location and nature of the works, we will be undertaking all works at night between 7pm and 5am, Monday to Thursday, with Sunday work as required. The noisiest works will be completed in the earlier part of the shift where possible.
Please be assured that we will comply will the relevant environmental and construction permits and make every effort to minimise disruptions during these works.
The area under construction will be fenced off during works to ensure public safety.
Pedestrian and vehicle access into Chinatown Mall will be maintained during construction via existing access arrangements.
