What are Council businesses?

Council businesses are businesses that are wholly owned by or work on behalf of Council. They provide services to Brisbane, including parkland management, economic development and sustainability leadership.

Bracalba Quarry

Council owns and operates Bracalba Quarry, a certified quarry in the Moreton Bay Region. 

The quarry supplies more than 1 million tonnes of products each year for civil construction projects in South East Queensland. It also specialises in crushing aggregates for concrete, asphalt, drainage and road base, and manufactures products for all engineering applications.

Brisbane Economic Development Agency

The Brisbane Economic Development Agency (BEDA) is a wholly-owned subsidiary company of Council and Brisbane’s official economic development board. BEDA's role is to:

grow Brisbane’s economy

drive demand for our city

create growth and trade opportunities for local businesses.

Brisbane Sustainability Agency

Brisbane Sustainability Agency is a wholly-owned Council subsidiary company. Its role is to accelerate Council's long-term plan for positive environmental outcomes across:

biodiversity

water

waste

energy

climate change.
