Traffic changes will be in place from Friday 29 November 2024 to Monday 13 January 2025 on North Quay and Adelaide Street for the construction of the new Adelaide Street tunnel entrance as part of Brisbane Metro works.
Works will include service installation, demolition of existing structures, concreting, asphalting and pavement works.
During works, the following temporary traffic changes will be in place:
- The left turning lane from North Quay on to Adelaide Street will be closed, with motorists detoured back along North Quay via a temporary cul-de-sac and onto the Riverside Expressway (southbound).
- Local precinct access only to the Brisbane Quarter for vehicles travelling on North Quay from Ann Street onwards.
- The northbound traffic lane on North Quay and Adelaide Street, between Victoria Bridge and George Street will be closed.
- Buses that usually travel on the closed sections of North Quay and Adelaide Street will be detoured.
- Southbound access for buses and general traffic will be maintained on Adelaide Street.
During this period, there will be temporary changes to several CBD bus stops, with route detours in place.
In the event of wet weather or unforeseen circumstances, these works and the temporary road closures and bus stop changes will continue until 5am Monday 20 January 2025.
No works will be undertaken from Tuesday 24 December to Thursday 26 December 2024.
To minimise the impact to residents, Brisbane Move is conducting these works over the holiday period as it is a quieter time on the inner-city road and public transport network.
Motorists and bus users may experience some delays during this period.
