Where to take excess household waste

Temporary waste bin sites can now be found in suburbs across Brisbane.

Council has opened more than 190 sites for residents in areas where regular kerbside waste collections have been impacted by severe weather.

The temporary bins will accept any excess waste from households impacted by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.

Temporary waste bins are for Brisbane residents only and for household quantities of waste.

Visit Council’s website for a full list of temporary waste bin locations.

To assist residents in the clean-up from Tropical Cyclone Alfred, free green waste disposal is also available at Council’s four resource recovery centres.

Residents with utility vehicles are encouraged to participate in “Ute Army” and help friends and neighbours to clean up green waste or register with Volunteering Queensland to assist.

Residents are also encouraged to dispose of sandbags safely. For more information visit Council’s website.

After severe weather has passed, it is important to continue listening to your local radio for official warnings and advice, check your house for damage, stay away from fallen power lines and report them to Energex on 13 19 62.

It is also important to beware of damaged buildings, trees and floodwaters and to be available to help neighbours if required.
