Elystan Road drainage works - New Farm

Link copied

Council is installing new underground stormwater pipes on Elystan Road to improve flood immunity for the New Farm community.

Council is working to improve drainage across Brisbane. We're doing drainage works on Elystan Road, as well as Lower Bowen Terrace, Brunswick Street and New Farm Park.

Works include upgrading the existing stormwater drainage network with additional stormwater pipes, new manhole chambers, gullies and connections.

  • January 2025: Start of construction.
  • June 2025: End of construction, weather and site conditions permitting.

  • Works will take place from 6.30am-6.30pm, Monday to Friday. Machinery will generally operate from 7am-3.30pm. We may need to do some Saturday works from 7am-5pm.
  • A small section of Elystan Road near Brunswick Street will be closed until June 2025. If you live on Elystan Road between Brunswick Street and Lower Bowen Terrace, you'll need to detour via Oxlade Drive and Lower Bowen Terrace. Follow the signs and traffic control. You'll still be able to access your home and driveway.
  • On-street parking on Elystan Road will not be available for the duration of the works.
  • The work area in New Farm Park will be fenced off during construction.
  • Nearby residents, businesses and visitors may experience an increase in noise, dust, and vehicle movements (including reversing beepers and flashing lights).

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we undertake these important works.
