Hamilton Road drainage works – Chermside

Link copied

Council is upgrading the stormwater drainage system on Hamilton Road and Kelso Street.

We're upgrading stormwater drainage along Hamilton Road and Kelso Street in Chermside, between Gympie Road and Farnell Street. This involves installing new underground stormwater pipes to improve flood immunity in the area.

Works will include:

  • excavating the existing access road surface
  • removing existing drainage pipes
  • installing new drainage pipes and associated drainage infrastructure
  • reinstating the road surface.

Works started in early March 2025 near the intersection of Hamilton Road and Gympie Road and will progress towards Kelso Street.

Works will occur at night from 7pm-4am, Sunday to Wednesday, when traffic volumes are lowest. We'll complete any noisy works prior to 11pm, where possible. We may need to work on some Saturdays from 7am-5pm.

Temporary traffic and parking changes

During works, we'll replace on-street parking on both sides of Hamilton Road with a traffic lane to maintain 2-way traffic. This will occur in sections as work progresses along the road, with on-street parking reinstated as we complete works.

We'll maintain access to driveways with the assitance of traffic control, where required, to help people move safely through the site.

Construction impacts

During construction, you may experience an increase in noise, dust and vehicle movements, including reversing beepers and flashing lights.

Thank you for your patience and understanding while we complete these works.
