Illaweena Street improvements project - Stretton
We're constructing a new carpark on Illaweena Street for better access to Stretton State College Primary Campus.
We're constructing a new 54-space car park on Illaweena Street and making improvements at the Gowan Road intersection to:
- provide safer access to Stretton State College Primary Campus
- improve how the intersection operates at peak times.
Works will include:
- constructing a new carpark with 54 designated park bays
- extending the right turn pocket on Illaweena Street to increase capacity at the intersection with Gowan Road
- installing a new traffic island in the centre of Illaweena Street
- adding yellow 'no stopping' lines on both sides of Illaweena Street
- installing a new section of footpath linking the new car park to Gowan Road.
The project is jointly funded by Council and the Queensland Government through the Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program.
During construction, informal parking on the verge of Illaweena Street adjacent to the school oval will be unavailable.
Works will be carried out during the day. Day works are scheduled Monday to Saturday, between 7am and 5pm.
At times, night works may be required, when traffic volumes are lowest and to ensure the safety of road users and workers and to minimise traffic disruptions. We will notify the local community ahead of night works being scheduled.
