Dendy Powerhouse Outdoor Cinema is a memorable moonlit night out offered year-round. Brisbane Powerhouse doesn’t just cater to grown-ups – it’s also a hub of entertainment for kids. Families can embark on mind-blowing journeys including on stage circus performances, science shows and puppertry productions.
Walk in the steps of history
Construction of Brisbane Powerhouse occured between 1928 and 1940. It once supported the largest tram network in the southern hemisphere before shutting down in 1971.
The building then became a haven for the homeless, performers and graffiti artists. Their artwork is now heritage aerosol art. Council renewed the building into a lively and creative spot for the city.

Brisbane Powerhouse is a comedy central which frequently hosts many comedy shows! Famous and local comedians enjoy performing and keeping you laughing all year with a full lineup of shows. The Powerhouse is also home to the Brisbane Comedy Festival. Held between 26 April–26 May, this is a month-long celebration of laughter that features more than 100 artists.
Be proud and celebrate diversity, culture and arts
Experience Melt Open between 23 October and 10 November. This open-access festival of Queer art and culture aims to foster inclusion and celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community. The destination event will feature a huge lineup of artists across multiple venues, showcasing diverse cultural experiences. Don’t miss the inaugural River Pride Parade on November 9, proudly led by ‘Queen of the River’ Courtney Act.
Also keep an eye out for the much-loved food festival, Night Feast, returning in October.
