All residential households in the Brisbane local government area are eligible for the kerbside collection service.
This includes houses and multi-unit dwellings.
Properties that are not eligible include commercial properties, schools and vacant land.
Council’s kerbside collection is an annual service to help residents dispose of heavy and large household items that are too big for wheelie bins. Brisbane City Council provides the free service to all suburbs in Brisbane.
Council’s kerbside collection service takes place over one week in each calendar year in every suburb.
Although Council is committed to providing this service to residents on a regular and recurring basis, the time frame is subject to change due to operational requirements or severe weather.
The kerbside collection service is provided to all Brisbane suburbs.

You can put out your items for kerbside collection on the Saturday before the scheduled start date. Note that items placed after 6am on the first day of the collection period may be missed.
Council only accepts heavy and large household items that do not fit in the wheelie bin. If you’re unsure if your item will be picked up by Council, see the list of acceptable and unacceptable items.
Illegal dumping fines may apply if items are placed on the kerbside outside the collection period.
Council’s kerbside collection service only accepts a limited number of items per residential address. Piles larger than 2 cubic metres (equal to a small box-trailer load) will not be collected.
If you have more material than this, you can dispose of these items at Council's resource recovery centres.
You can place any of the following items out for kerbside collection:
- bath and laundry tubs
- bicycles and sporting equipment
- carpet and rugs
- electronic waste (including televisions and computers)
- furniture and white goods (including fridges and stoves)
- small household appliances (including fans and toasters)
- wood products less than 1.5 metres.
