Building certification
Building certification is essential for all construction work. Understand the process to submit your certification documents.

About building certification
Building certification verifies that construction work meets all relevant requirements.
Building certifiers are accredited building professionals who assess and certify building work. Building certifiers are licensed by the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC).
Under the Planning Act 2016, Council must hold records of building approvals and building certification information.
You must receive building approval from a private certifier before final building certification can occur.
To complete the building certification process, all relevant documentation must be lodged with Council by the private building certifier.
When should I lodge my documents?
Within 5 working days of the associated work taking place.
Ensure all the necessary documents are submitted to avoid potential legal consequences, fines, or delays.
Who can lodge the documents?
The accredited building certifier is responsible for lodging the building certification documents.
