Understanding plumbing fees and charges

Fees apply where Council regulates or is required to assess or inspect plumbing and drainage work. These fees apply to:

  • plumbing and drainage applications and assessment
  • inspection of plumbing and drainage work
  • requesting copies of existing drainage plans or certificates
  • annual backflow device fees.

To determine what fees may apply to your application or request, download the Plumbing and Drainage Fees brochure.

Additional information

Council offers plumbing and drainage fee discounts on eligible applications. These include certain virtual plumbing inspections and applications from qualifying organisations.

We offer a 50% discount on inspection fees when 2 or more virtual inspections are conducted for a new:

  • single class 1a dwelling house
  • secondary dwelling
  • associated class 10a building.

Note

  • Only virtual inspections that achieve a pass will count towards the discount.
  • The discount is applied to the inspection fees that were paid at lodgement after you’ve been issued a final inspection certificate.

Applications and requests made on behalf of religious or charitable, essential welfare or community service, and not-for-profit community organisations may be eligible for a 50% fee concession.

You can find the eligibility criteria in the Schedule of Fees and Charges. Commercial proposals aren’t eligible for this discount.

Paying plumbing and drainage fees

Most plumbing and drainage fees are paid during the lodgement of a permit application, or a request for assessment or inspection.

Where fees exceed $20,000, we’ll contact you for payment after you lodge your application.

We will begin assessment of your application after all fees have been paid.
