Landscaping

Find out about building and planning requirements for landscaping projects.

What do I need to know before getting started?

Building and planning approvals are generally not required for proposed landscaping in residential areas.

You should avoid landscaping that will create climbable objects within 900 millimetres of a pool fence or barrier.

If you’re lodging a development application, such as an application for a multiple dwelling (e.g. units or apartments), a landscape concept plan will need to be included for assessment.

Planning a project?

The type of building or construction work you’re planning determines what approvals you need to apply for. Check if you need approval to make changes to your property.
