What is Development.i?
Development.i is an online tool you can use to look up past and current development applications and find basic property information.
You can:
- search for applications and view documentation
- favourite a property
- save your search filters
- register to receive notifications
- make a submission on an application.
How to use Development.i
You can search for property and development details without logging into Development.i.
By creating a profile, you can save your searches, favorites and receive notifications. Register or sign in to the Services fro Brisbane portal to create a profile.
You should consider the Terms and Conditions of Use carefully before using Development.i.
You'll find 3 search functions on the home page. You can search for a property by:
- Location: Enter the address, suburb, lot number or division.
- Application search: Enter the development application number.
- Map search: Zoom in on the property using the map tools.
Once you’ve located the property, you can view its lot number, land area and lot status.
You can also click through to the property on City Plan online to access more information, including zoning, overlay and neighbourhood plans.
You can look up a current application by entering its address or application number into the search bar. You can also locate it on the map.
To look up a past application, use the map search function and filters.
To find an application on the map, use the Map Tools to move around and zoom in down to street level. You can also base your search around a property. Drop a pin on the map at the location.
Development applications will be marked with blue dots on the map. You can also view and filter the results as a list.
You can narrow your search to related applications using the filters in the map search. You can filter by:
- Progress: Select from in progress, in progress – on public notification, decided (includes withdrawn, cancelled, under appeal and superseded by a further approval) and past (includes decided, withdrawn, cancelled or superseded by further approval).
- Application group: Select from development (includes all applications and requests included in the application type filter) or building (includes all requests for referral agency response since 1 December 2021).
- Date range: Search for applications based on the record creation date (submitted) or decided date of an application or request.
- Use: Select from options determined by the type of application group selected.
- Application type: Select from options determined by the type of application group selected.
- Assessment level: Select from code, impact, notifiable code, referral response or request.
To access the saved searches and alerts features, you’ll need to create a profile. Register or sign in to the Services fro Brisbane portal to create a profile.
Save a map search
Go back to your search whenever you like by saving your search and filter criteria to your profile.
You can also choose to receive application notifications based on your saved map and filter criteria. Notifications can be received daily or weekly.
Favourite a property
Once you’ve found a property on the map, you can favourite it and save it to your profile.
You can also choose to receive notifications about new applications near the property. Select the type of applications you’d like to receive notifications for and set a radius around the property. Notifications can be received daily or weekly.

You can also choose to receive notifications about updates to the application. Notifications can be received daily or weekly. You’ll only receive a notification when new activity happens.
Manage and save search alerts
You can change, update and delete your saved searches and notifications in your profile’s saved searches and notifications page.
You can also adjust the number of entries shown per page, search for a saved search or sort your entries by:
- saved search name
- alert description
- last update.
You can narrow your search to requests to Council acting as a referral agency for particular building works. Use the application type filter in a map search.
You can also access requests for referral agency advice from Council lodged in the past 7 days or decided in the past 7 days from the homepage.

- changes to proposed development details, status or stage
- changes to application documents.
A request for referral agency response is submitted to Council for advice regarding variations to certain building work standards. These standards are prescribed by the Planning Regulation 2017.
Applications can be shown as one or multiple dots on the map. The dots show how the application is linked to land parcels.
If an application is lodged over one land parcel, it will have one dot. If it covers a number of parcels of land, a dot is placed over each parcel.
View documents in similar development applications to help you prepare your application. They may include:
- owner's consent documents
- relevant DA forms
- site plans
- impact assessments
- environmental studies
- other relevant reports or documents.
Receive notifications about what’s happening in your area and updates to development aplications.
Notifications are based on your saved map or property searches.
Do you support or oppose a development? You can look up the application details and have your say by:
- making a submission to formally support or oppose a development
- making a comment on a development
- submitting a neighbour’s comment on a QDC siting variation.

- The information provided on this tool will help you track the progress of Development Applications or Request for referral agency response (QDC siting variations). It represents key milestones in the Development Application process and review process for siting variations, not a detailed history. Property transactions or settlements or similar decisions should not rely on the information contained in Development.i. Persons wishing to confirm this information should do so via a Planning and Development Certificate.
- Development.i assists with information on development applications and requests for referral agency responses (QDC siting variations). It does not provide all Council's information relating to the property within the Brisbane City local government area.
- The information available through Development.i, particularly in relation to a selected property (including accuracy, reliability, completeness or suitability) does not represent formal advice or future outcome for any proposed development. No liability is accepted (including without limitation, liability in negligence) for any loss, damage or costs (including consequential damage) relating to any use by you of this information.
- While all reasonable care has been taken, Brisbane City Council does not warrant the accuracy, completeness or currency of the information provided in Development.i, and accepts no responsibilities for, or in connection with, any expense, loss, damage or liability (including indirect and consequential loss) arising as a result of any inaccuracies, errors or omissions, system unavailability including resulting in delays in email notifications, or your reliance on or use of this information.
- In order to access some features of Development.i, you may need to be a registered user. When you register and activate your account, you will provide us with limited personal information such as your name and email address. Any personal information collected by Council will be handled in accordance with Council’s Privacy Statement.
- When you register you create your own profile. You are responsible for keeping your profile information, including password, secure and are responsible for all use and activity carried out when logged into your user profile.
- By registering to save searches and receive notifications, you accept that Council will use the contact details provided such as your email address to notify you of system related information, for example outages, updates or upgrades.
- Access to Development.i is at the discretion of Council. Council reserves the right to refuse to allow access to any part of Development.i without prior notice and without the need to give any reason for doing so.
- All matters relating to Development.i are governed by the laws of both the State of Queensland and the Commonwealth of Australia.
