Find out how Council is taking responsibility for its own carbon footprint and supporting Brisbane residents to do the same.
Council's Climate Action
Local governments are part of the climate solution and have an important role to play.
Brisbane City Council is taking real and practical action to deliver a low-carbon and climate-resilient city for current and future residents of Brisbane.
Council is actively responding to a changing climate by:
- continuously improving the performance of our own operations and investing in measures to directly reduce our operational carbon footprint by at least 30% by 2031-32 and achieve net zero emissions by 2050
- delivering initiatives to support Brisbane residents and businesses to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions
- assessing climate risks and implementing locally appropriate adaptation measures to build the city’s resilience.
