Bin collections
Find out when your bins are collected, including your general waste, recycling and green waste recycling services.

Important things to know
To prepare your waste:
- bag up any loose rubbish such as dust and kitchen scraps
- keep recyclables loose - do not bag items you intend to recycle
- keep any garden prunings small
- avoid overloading your bin (maximum weight is 70 kg).
When taking out your bins:
- place bins at the kerb or as close to the kerb as possible by 5.30am
- when taking out multiple bins, set these at least 30 cm apart
- keep bin lids closed with wheels facing towards your property
- position your bin so that it is not obstructed by parked cars
- avoid blocking pedestrian pathways or vehicle access.
Retrieving your bin after collection
Bins can only be placed on the kerb at a reasonable time before collection (no earlier than 24 hours before collection) and need to be removed from the kerb as soon as possible after collection (no longer than 24 hours after collection).
Full bins left out on the footpath too soon before collection or empty bins left on the footpath after collection can become a safety hazard for pedestrians and road users and can detract from the amenity of the area. The Health, Safety and Amenity Local Law 2021 outlines requirements for bin collection times and other safety considerations.
Council may investigate bins continually left on the footpath or kerb and issue on-the-spot fines if you do not have a reasonable excuse for not returning your bins to your property.
Request an extra bin collection
You can contact Council to arrange an extra waste collection (special waste bin collection) for a fee.
You can pay online for your special waste (extra) bin collection service.
What can I do if my bin was missed?
You can report it online or phone Council if your bin was not collected on collection day.
Report missed bins:
- after 4.30pm on your bin collection day for general waste bin collections
- within 2 working days of your bin collection day for recycling and green waste bins.
Bins will be collected as soon as possible once a request has been made.
