Brisbane’s water supplier 

Urban Utilities supplies water and wastewater services to customers in Brisbane.

If you’re a Brisbane City Council ratepayer, you will receive a water and wastewater account from Urban Utilities separate to your rates account.

Enquiries

Brisbane residents can contact Urban Utilities for enquiries about:

  • burst mains, water and sewage leaks
  • design and connections
  • Dial Before You Dig service
  • metered standpipes and fire hydrants
  • pressure and leakage management
  • recycled water
  • trade waste
  • water and sewerage charges
  • water approvals
  • water quality and treatment

Sewage overflows  

Urban Utilities operates a network of pipes, pumps and wastewater treatment plants for the transportation and treatment of sewage in Brisbane.

When a pipe, pump or plant becomes blocked, overflow can occur. This will look like a sudden discharge of wastewater or sewage onto streets or a property.  

If you notice an overflow

Urban Utilites is responsible for managing sewer overflows in Brisbane. 

When the leak is coming from a pipe

You should immediately call Urban Utilities on 12 23 64. They are available to answer your call 24-hours a day.

When the leak is on your property

You will need to call a licensed plumber.

Ensure that you:

  • avoid any contact with raw sewage 
  • avoid any waterways where there has been an overflow.
