After COVID, a mature aged couple found themselves suddenly retired earlier than expected. But they had a plan: to do a lap of Australia in a 20-year-old bus converted into a motorhome they called “The Golden Goose”. Their dog Watson came along for the ride. They travelled 32,000km in 326 days. It is the adventure and misadventure of a lifetime with all the ups and downs of a free form journey. They had no clue where they were going and spontaneity was the key. Their book, A Lap of Australia for Beginners, tells you all about it. Join adventurer and author May Wild as she shares her practical and entertaining guide on travelling Australia. Books will be available for purchase from The Mad Hatters Bookshop, or bring your copy from home to be signed. Presented as part of the Lord Mayor’s Writers in Residence series. Bookings essential. To reserve your place, visit Eventbrite or call the library.
