About fundraising in the malls

Registered charities and certain not-for-profit organisations can fundraise in designated areas within the city malls.

You need a fundraising permit to collect money or appeal for donations in these public places.

The designated fundraising areas are:

  • the corner of Adelaide and Albert Streets (Queen Street Mall side)
  • the corner of Adelaide and George Streets (Queen Street Mall side)
  • the corner of Adelaide and Edward Streets (Queen Street Mall side)
  • Reddacliff Place
  • Brunswick Street Mall
  • Chinatown Mall.

Apply for a fundraising permit

There’s no fee for a fundraising permit. 

1 Prepare your supporting documents

Provide the following documents as Word, PDF or JPG files.

  • Registered Charity Certificate
  • Certificate of Currency for public liability insurance to the value of $20 million
  • assignment of day for street collection from the Office of Fair Trading
2 Submit your permit application

Submit a fundraising permit application with your documents using the online form.

3 After you apply
