Construction will soon be underway on the refurbishment of the Kenmore Community Centre.

About the project

Brisbane City Council is undertaking refurbishment works at the Kenmore Community Centre, located at 98 Brookfield Road, Kenmore Hills.

There are three community user groups who use the Kenmore Community Centre: the Kenmore Bridge Club, eWaste Connection and the ShedWest Men’s Shed group. 

This busy site is constrained, and these works will improve access and usability of the facilities for all users. 

This project is jointly funded by the Australian Government’s Community Development Grants Program and Brisbane City Council. 

Project details

The central building, located between the Men’s Shed and the Bridge Club will be demolished and completely rebuilt. 

The new building will include a communal meeting space, a card dealing room for the Bridge Club, an area for the Men’s Shed ‘Tech Hub’ and improved amenities, including two new ambulant toilets and a toilet for persons with a disability (PWD). 

• The Kenmore Bridge Club building will have internal walls removed to maximise playing space. A kitchen and a new ambulant toilet will be included, along with a new covered outdoor seating area. 
• eWaste Connection will have exclusive use of the building opposite its existing workshop for additional office and storage space. A new ambulant toilet will also be included in their building. A pedestrian crossing will improve safety for users moving between the workshop and office buildings. 
• ShedWest Men’s Shed will have a new dust extraction system installed and its kitchenette will be upgraded.

Project timing

• Site preparation works: from January 2025.
• Construction works: from February 2025.
• Project completion: end of June 2025.

Start of construction

Site preparation works are expected tostarted in from January 2025, with the construction and demolition works to commence from February 2025. Works are expected to be completed in mid-2025, weather and site conditions permitting.

Council will provide advance notification of any particularly impactful works required throughout the construction period.

What to expect during construction 

Residents and businesses near the Kenmore Community Centre may notice:

• construction noise
• increased dust
• low levels of vibration.
