Library facilities and services

You can do more than borrow books at Brisbane City Council libraries. Our libraries offer a variety of facilities and services, including free internet access and computer training, as well as meeting room hire. Brisbane City Archives at Moorooka holds Council's archive records and can be accessed by the public during designated times.

Council has introduced a convenient way for library members to access library resources and collect hold items with 24/7 library lockers.

Council library members can access digital content via the online library catalogue, eLibCat. Use your library membership barcode number (displayed on the back of your library card) and PIN number.

Council has well-equipped meeting rooms available for hire in most libraries and Council's two environment centres.  Read more about meeting rooms types, hire charges and how to book a meeting room.

Brisbane City Archives at Moorooka is open to the public during designated opening hours, or by appointment.  The collection includes Council documents from 1859 onwards.  

Council libraries offer free internet access and computer training courses for all library members. Several libraries have display televisions for public viewing.

More than one million items are available to borrow from Council's libraries. The collection includes a wide range of current and popular reading material for all ages, in a range of formats.

Council has a free home library service for Brisbane residents who are unable to visit a library because of frailty, disability or long term illness

Digitise your memories using the Council media conversion stations located at Carindale Library and Chermside Library.
