Home library delivery service
Council has a free home library service. The service is available to Brisbane residents unable to visit a Council library due to frailty, disability or long-term illness.
Library staff assist with selection of reading material, including magazines, large print, audio books, DVDs and CDs based on the customer’s interests and preferences. These items are delivered once a month.
Eligibility
Brisbane residents who are unable to visit a library in person due to frailty, illness or disability and their full-time carers are eligible to receive Council’s Home Library Service. A medical practitioner must support eligibility for the service, however please note this requirement will be waived for any application received during the Coronavirus pandemic.
How to apply
An application form can be obtained from any Council library, the online library catalogue, eLibCat or mailed to the applicant.
Once the application form is completed, it can be emailed or mailed to any Council library for assessment. All applicants will receive a letter confirming receipt of the application and whether they have been accepted as a member of the Home Library Service.

Audiobook postal service
In addition to the Home Library Service, Council libraries offer a free audiobook postal service for people who are blind or vision impaired. This service posts audiobooks to residents of Brisbane who meet the eligibility criteria. Eligible residents receive a new selection of audiobooks based on their reading profiles and preferences upon the return of their previous mail delivery.

Library pick-up service
Council libraries also offer a library pick-up service, where family or friends of housebound customers can collect pre-selected reading materials from a convenient library branch on behalf of a housebound customer.
