The Lord Mayor's Christmas Carols returns bigger and better in 2024 to spread joy to the world with a dazzling evening of high kicks, high notes and hijinks.
Hosted by Queensland’s first lady of song Naomi Price, this world-class evening of entertainment features a breathtaking all-Australian line-up of superstars including Conrad Sewell, Ngaiire, Josh Pyke, Queensland Ballet, Jess Hitchcock, Emma Pask, Luke Kennedy, Fatai, Andy Cook, Dean Brady and Waveney Yasso.
Audience favourites The Jingle Belles are back in 2024 under the direction of superstar choreographer Kate Wormald and of course – it wouldn’t be Christmas without a VIP visit from Santa himself!

Seating
General admission seating means sitting on the ground (most of Riverstage is a grassed area on a gentle slope). You are welcome to bring a small blanket and cushion (back support style cushions are allowed) to sit on the grass. No chairs or elevated seating of any type is permitted.
An accessible viewing area is located on a platform at the top of the hill, looking down on the stage (side viewing) and is available for those with limited mobility. For accessible seating and or companion card tickets, select accessible ticketing options on the Ticketmaster website or by calling Ticketmaster’s Accessible Line on 1300 446 925.

Fireworks and flash warning
This event contains fireworks (bright lights/colours, sudden loud sounds), swirling and flashing light displays (no strobe) and loud music.
Accessibility
This year’s event includes Auslan interpretation, audio description, a tactile tour dress rehearsal, accessible viewing platform, dedicated Auslan area and a low sensory zone at the Riverstage.

Mobility and physical accessibility
An accessible viewing area is located on a platform at the top of the hill, looking down on the stage (side viewing) and is available for those with limited mobility. For accessible seating and or companion card tickets, select accessible ticketing options on the Ticketmaster website or by calling Ticketmaster’s Accessible Line on 1300 446 925.
Council honours the Queensland Government Companion Card. This card allows free entry to Riverstage to anyone accompanying a person with a disability who requires attendant care support.
Riverstage is wheelchair accessible. Wheelchair access for Riverstage is through Gate 2 for this event.
There is no parking available on site. The on-street disability parking spaces map includes disability parking permit on-street parking in the Brisbane Central Business District. Alternatively, you can view the map in Google Maps.
Unless you have accessibility requirements and require to be dropped off close to the gate entry, we recommend avoiding Gardens Point Road passenger drop-off and pick-up points.
Deaf and hard of hearing accessibility
The Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols will be Auslan interpreted. Additionally, all lyrics will be captioned on-screen.
There is a special area reserved for those requiring Auslan interpretation and their families. To book into this area, select the Auslan area ticket type when purchasing your tickets via Ticketmaster. If purchasing multiple tickets and you wish to all sit together, you will need to ensure all tickets purchased are Auslan area tickets. Only those with Auslan area tickets will have access to this area.
Limited haptic vests to feel the music and vibrating wrist bands will be available at the event.
Blind and low vision accessibility
The Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols will be audio described. Audio description packs are available and can be booked after selecting your ticket type during the purchasing stage via the Ticketmaster website.
Neurodivergent and Low Sensory Accessibility
The Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols will feature a low sensory zone at the Riverstage. This zone will include ambient lighting, lower audio levels, stress balls, comfortable seating and a screen to watch the show.
A social story (visual guide to the venue and what to expect), site map and spoiler sheet (step by step through the show with sound and light warnings) is available at The Little Red Company website.
Content warnings include loud music, flashing and moving colourful lights, special effects that will contain loud sudden noises, including fireworks and bright glittery moments both in the sky and on stage including low level fog and cold sparks/pyros.
Entry conditions
Entry will be through Gate 1 and 2. All patrons must have their tickets ready to be scanned upon entry. Any patron without a valid ticket will not be permitted to enter the venue.
All bags will be searched. A personal safety and security search is a condition of entry. Security wanding may occur. You can leave prohibited items at the cloakroom. Illegal items will be confiscated.
Patrons must not stand on bins or fences. The venue is not responsible for any injuries caused or suffered by patrons standing on bins or fences.

What you can and can't bring into Riverstage
Permitted items
You can bring the following items into the venue for this event:
- sealed unopened soft plastic water bottles
- empty reusable plastic water bottles for filling at Riverstage's free water stations (no glass)
- non-commercial snack foods in soft packaging no larger than an A4 piece of paper in size (refer to food and beverage section for further information on BYO food)
- small rugs and blankets
- working guide dogs and assistance dogs
- capsules or baby carriers
- strollers and prams (to be stored in parking areas on-site).
Non-permitted items
You cannot bring the following items into the venue for this event:
- bags larger than A4 size
- cameras with detachable lens
- chairs or elevated seating
- domestic animals (excludes working guide dogs and other assistance dogs)
- hard eskies
- fireworks (of any kind)
- commercial food
- metal cutlery including cheese knives
- glass
- iPads
- large flashlights and torches
- laser pointing devices
- selfie sticks
- skateboards
- studded fashion items
- umbrellas
- video or audio recorders of any type
- weapons of any kind
- any other items considered to be harmful to others.
Council may add items to the prohibited list as required.

Food and beverage
Water
Water refill stations will be provided on site. Ensure you bring an empty reusable bottle (no glass).
Bar
A licensed bar will be available onsite. No alcohol can be brought into the venue and any alcohol will be confiscated upon entry by security.
Food vendors
A variety of food will be available to purchase at the event. We encourage contactless payment where possible.
BYO food
Patrons are not permitted to bring commercial food or drinks or hot food into the venue. However, homemade food, small, soft packaged, non-commercial snacks, sealed bottled water and sealed non-alcoholic beverages in plastic bottles are permitted for this event.
Food bags must not be larger than an A4 size of paper. No eskies, hard case packaging or large food storage containers are permitted into the venue.
Security reserve the right to refuse entry with food that does not meet the above conditions.
Example permitted foods include:
- pre-packaged, non-commercial sandwiches, rolls or wraps
- chips, biscuits, crackers in soft packaging no larger than an A4 piece of paper
- fruit including pre-cut fruit in soft packaging, cheese, deli meats and crackers. Note: no knives or metal cutlery are permitted into the venue.
How to get to Riverstage
Council recommends you use public transport to travel to and from Riverstage. The closest public transport options to Riverstage are:
- QUT ferry terminal - one minute (280 metres) walk
- South Bank train station - 12 minute (850 metres) walk via the Goodwill Bridge
- South Bank bus station - 13 minute (one kilometre) walk via the Goodwill Bridge.
Use Translink's Journey Planner to plan your trip by bus, train, ferry or foot and to keep up with any service disruptions. The My Translink app (available for Apple and Android devices) includes a journey planner. This is ideal for planning your route on-the-go.
Parking
No on-site parking is available.
Accessible parking
The on-street disability parking spaces map includes disability parking permit on-street parking in the Brisbane Central Business District. Alternatively, you can view the map in Google Maps.

Council recommends avoiding the Gardens Point Road passenger drop-off and pick up points unless you have accessibility requirements.
Cloakroom
Prohibited items may be deposited in the cloakroom situated near the entry of Gate 1 (closest to the Goodwill Bridge). Other items are not accepted. Illegal items will be confiscated.

First aid
The first aid station will be located to the right of the stage.
Passouts
No passouts are given under any circumstance.
Bad weather policy
Riverstage is an outdoor amphitheatre. If rain or bad weather occurs, the show will proceed, unless deemed unsafe to do so. No refunds will be authorised unless the event is cancelled.
Victoria Park satellite event - carols live stream
The Lord Mayor’s Christmas Carols will be live streamed by Channel Nine from Riverstage into Victoria Park, allowing more visitors to share in the magic of this event.
Join us on Victoria Park’s rolling green hills from 4.30pm and enjoy pre-show entertainment as the sun sets, including live performances by jazz entertainers SCAT.
Food trucks will be open from 4.30pm to purchase a selection of tasty sweet and savoury food and non-alcoholic drinks or you can pack your own picnic. Remember to pack a picnic blanket to enjoy the evening in comfort.

This is a free event with capacity limited and registrations via OzTix are required.
Accessibility
The pre-show entertainment at Victoria Park will be Auslan interpreted, and the live-streamed event from Riverstage will also offer Auslan interpretation with on-screen captions.
For easy access, designated drop-off areas and accessible parking are available on Gilchrist Avenue. Note, the parkland includes sloped and uneven ground at the event site.
Getting to the event
Entry to the event is via the Gilchrist Avenue entrance to Victoria Park. The venue is accessible by footpaths with steep terrain at the site. While the venue provides a natural amphitheatre with tiered seating, we ask patrons to be mindful of line of site and ask those who bring chairs to choose their location accordingly.
Public transport
Visitors are encouraged to travel to the event by walking, cycling or public transport. Victoria Park is well-serviced by buses via the Inner Northern Busway, with the nearest stop at Herston Station. Call Translink on 13 12 30 or visit the Translink website to plan your journey.
Car parking and accessible parking
Limited free parking for the event will be available at the Victoria Park Sports Fields located off Gilchrist Avenue. No event parking will be available in the car park off Herston Road. Alternative paid parking is available at QUT.
Designated accessible parking will be available on Gilchrist Avenue.
Taxi and ride-share
Drivers can drop off and pick up passengers from a dedicated area on Gilchrist Avenue.
Cycling and bicycle racks
The Normanby Cycleway Link offers direct access to Victoria Park. Bicycle racks are available across the park. Note: All pathways and roads within the park are shared with pedestrians, so use caution when cycling.
