What is the Streets of Remembrance project?
Council’s Streets of Remembrance project commemorates the brave men and women who have served in Australia’s armed forces.
We acknowledge Brisbane’s military heritage by placing the Australian Defence Force Rising Sun and Royal Australian Navy (RAN) badges on street signs.
The badges are added to streets with names linked to Queensland service men and women, and Victoria Cross recipients. They’re also placed on streets with names that honour significant places and events from the 1915 Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) campaign.
To date, commemorative badges:
- have been placed on 757 street signs
- appear in 230 locations
- recognise 161 significant people, places or events.
For more information on the Streets of Remembrance project, email Council or call us on 07 3403 8888.
