Gathering presents a weaving demostration with coconut palm leaves.
The Bowie Family come from Badu, Mabuiag, Pulu and Erub Islands in the Torres Strait. The traditional weaving they demonstrate is from Erub Island and has been passed down for many generations. Coconut palm leaves are used to weave items that have both traditional and contemporary uses.
Please join us for a live weaving workshop at the Queen Street Mall, 12 noon-1pm.
