Nature journalling for kids (8-12 years)
1:00pm to 3:00pm
Suitable for ages 8-12 years.
Free
Environment Centre staff will guide children aged 8-12 years through some fun and simple exercises to learn the basics and discover the joys of connecting with nature through nature journalling. Nature journalling is the practice of recording your interactions with nature on paper. You can use sketches, paintings, poetry, species lists, numbers, graphs, cartoons and more. It's a fun, easy, relaxing practice and encourages mindfulness, hones observation skills, and cultivates a sense of wonder.
All materials provided, but we recommend you bring your own basic sketch/art book so you can keep your creations in one place. Limited seating available. Please bring an outdoor chair if you need one.
After the workshop, visit the Environment Centre or remain in the reserve to continue nature journalling.
Requirements: Please arrive 10 minutes early to check in. All children must be accompanied throughout by an adult booked into the event. Please wear sun-safe clothing, sunscreen, fully enclosed shoes, and bring insect repellent. Bring water and a snack if required as there are no food outlets on site.
Note: This activity will go ahead in light rain and can be delivered indoors if required. Events are subject to weather and environmental conditions and may be cancelled on the day.
