Initiatives to support seniors in Brisbane

Council runs and invests in events and activities that support seniors by promoting inclusivity and accessibility.

A free membership with the 50 Plus Centre gives you access to a variety of low-cost activities. You can join if you’re in South East Queensland and are a senior or pensioner over 50.

Activities take place in the basement level of Brisbane City Hall, 64 Adelaide Street, Brisbane.

The Centre is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 3pm excluding public holidays. The club office is open between 9am and 1pm. Call 07 3403 4319 or email to enquire about membership.

Get active with exercise and movement classes and workshops for seniors.

Participate in activities including yoga, functional fitness and Tai Chi Qigong.

Presented by the Growing Old and Living Dangerously (GOLD) program, activities take place in parks, pools and other venues across Brisbane.

We’re making it easier to build, extend and upgrade aged care and retirement facilities in Brisbane.

Changes to our planning scheme, Brisbane City Plan 2014, will help increase accommodation choices and enable more residents to remain within their local communities.
