How to pay your rates 

Paying your rates is easy. Pay online, set up an automatic payment or choose a method that suits you.

Check when your rates are due

Council issues rate accounts quarterly.  

Pay your rates early to receive the early payment discount (if eligible).

Avoid interest charges on late payments when you pay by the due date.

What you need to provide

To pay rates, you need your:

  • rates notice  
  •  bill number (located in the top right hand corner of your rates notice), or account number (located on the third page of your rates notice)
  • preferred card payment method: Mastercard, Visa, American Express or debit card. 

Add a donation to your payment

You can donate to the Lord Mayor’s Charitable Trust when paying your rates.

If paying another way, choose the donation option.

Use the online form to organise automatic direct debit payments.

You can also set up recurring credit card payments.

In person

Australia Post 

Make a rates payment at your local Australia Post.

Customer Centre 

You can pay your rates at a Council Customer Centre using:

  • cash 
  • credit card
  • EFTPOS (Mastercard and Visa only) 
  • cheque or traveller’s cheque
  • instalments.  

Over the phone

Phone 1300 309 311 and follow the prompts.

Send the bottom section of your rates statement with a cheque or money order to:
