Arrange a plumbing inspection
Book a plumbing inspection for your permit work. Find out about Council requirements and the types of bookings available.

All plumbing permit work must be inspected by Council. This is to ensure it complies with legislation, requirements and standards.
During construction, your plumbing contractor must contact Council to arrange an inspection.
Prepare for your inspection
Before the inspection, your plumbing contractor must:
- have a plumbing permit issued by Council
- complete Form 7—Notification of responsible person and email it to psg.admin@brisbane.qld.gov.au
- ensure the installed plumbing is visible and under test
- pay all relevant fees.
Limits on the number of inspections
The number of inspections included with the initial inspection fee depends on the type of application.
Inspection limits include cancellations made after 9am on the day before the scheduled booking.

Types of plumbing inspections
You can book a virtual inspection for dwelling house projects. Requests for virtual inspections for other project types may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
After-hours, extended and final inspections cannot be conducted virtually.
To book a virtual inspection, contact Council’s Plumbing Hotline on 07 3403 9999 between 7.30am and 4.30pm. A minimum of 48 hours notice is required for virtual inspections.

Council offers inspections outside of business hours upon request, subject to fees and availability.
After-hours inspections are available:
- before 6.30am or after 4.30pm on any workday
- anytime on weekends
- anytime on public holidays.
Requests for after-hours inspections must be made:
- by 2pm for same-day afternoon or evening bookings on workdays
- by 2pm on the previous workday for morning, weekend, or public holiday bookings.
We offer short-notice inspections during business hours for the same day or the following workday subject to fees and availability.
Requests for priority inspections must be made by 2pm for same-day afternoon or next-day morning bookings.
Inspections of up to three hours and 15 minutes are available, subject fees and availability.
Extended inspections begin at 8am on workdays only.
Requests for extended inspections must be made before 4pm, 2 workdays prior to the booking. A limit of one extended inspection per development per day applies.
You can book a final inspection once the installation is complete and meets all legal or Council requirements.
Before requesting a final inspection for dwelling houses, you must:
- submit a Form 9 for each installed testable backflow prevention device
You can complete Form 9 online or download a copy and submit it within 10 business days by email to psg.admin@brisbane.qld.gov.au
- pay for any installed testable backflow prevention devices
- provide the Commissioning Certificate for any installed onsite sewage facilities.

- submit a set of electronic as-constructed plans in the same format as the stamped approved plans by email
- comply with all permit conditions.

As-constructed sanitary drainage plans
Plumbing contractors need to provide as-constructed drainage plans to the Council plumbing inspector at the sanitary drain inspection for dwelling house projects.
The plan must be drawn on the Council template, be either A4 or A3 size and show:
- the sewer connection details
- all in-ground sanitary drainage
- the location of the water meter
- in-ground water service to the point of entry.
