About the project

Council has identified Wynnum Municipal Hall to receive structural and safety improvement works. Works will include:

  • a full roof replacement
  • repairs to water impacted areas within the main hall
  • a full replacement of entrance stairs
  • electrical upgrades within the building

Construction impacts

Construction will start in early July 2024 and is anticipated to be completed in late 2024.

Works will be undertaken between 6.30am and 6.30pm, Monday to Friday, weather and site conditions permitting.

During the works, the hall will be closed to the public and fencing will be placed around the site for the safety of workers and the community.

The hall’s carpark will be closed and fenced off for the duration of the project to allow for safe movement and a laydown area for Council’s contractors.

Intermittent footpath closures will be put in place throughout the roofing repairs to allow for safe working zones. Please follow the detours and traffic controllers onsite.

Local residents and businesses close to the site may experience some construction impacts associated with these works, including noise, dust and vibration.

Any works that require the removal and disposal of asbestos, will be carried out by a licensed asbestos contractor in accordance with the Queensland Government’s Work Health and Safety Act 2011.

Council is committed to minimising the impact of the works on the community as much as possible. We would like to thank local residents for their patience and understanding whilst these works are ongoing.

Environment impacts

Council is committed to minimising any impact on the environment during construction.

Council does not expect there to be any significant environmental impacts associated with this project.

All work will be carried out in accordance with the relevant environmental guidelines, and Council will make every effort to minimise environmental impacts during construction.
