Book clubs

New members are welcome at Brisbane City Council libraries’ book clubs. You can join an existing club or start your own group.

Joining a book club

There are book club meetings all around Brisbane. Libraries, homes, cafés, restaurants and bookstores are some of the places where meetings are held.

Check the What's On calendar to find out if there’s a book club at your local library.

Start a new book club

When starting a new book club, you and your group choose the meeting location and times, members and books.

Think about why you want to start a book club. Is it for literary discussion or social interaction? Are you looking for serious literary debate or light-hearted discussion?

Ask yourself where you’ll look for members. Will you invite friends, or will you contact libraries and bookstores to form a group with like-minded readers?

Contact your local library to find out about choosing and ordering books for discussion. You can also visit eLibCat to search for books and order your copy to borrow.
