Parking around Brisbane sporting precincts
Brisbane City Council has introduced a number of parking permit areas in close proximity to sporting and special event facilities, to assist local residents with accessing on-street parking in their area.
Queensland Sports and Athletic Centre
The Queensland Sport and Athletic Centre (QSAC, also known as QEII Stadium) plays host to large sporting and entertainment events throughout the year. Some on-site parking does exist but is not always available for larger events.
To ensure residents surrounding the complex can access on street parking during events, the Robertson Macgregor Traffic Area has been created. If you live within the Robertson/Macgregor traffic area, you can apply for a parking permit. Residents and their visitors who have a parking permit are exempt from the area-wide parking limits.
During major events at Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre, a 15-minute parking restriction applies on event days between midday and 11pm.
Due to parking limits in the area, public transport is recommended as the best way to get to events. For information about getting to QSAC, visit the QSAC and Translink websites.
Ballymore Stadium
Ballymore stadium, located in Herston is the home of Queensland Rugby and the Queensland Reds.
To ensure local residents can access street parking during events, the Ballymore Traffic Area was created. If you live within the Ballymore Traffic Area, you can apply for a parking permit. Residents and their visitors who have a parking permit are exempt from the area-wide parking limits.
During events at Ballymore, a five minute parking limit applies all day (midnight to midnight). Queensland Tennis Centre
The Queensland Tennis Centre is located on the banks of the Brisbane River in the suburb of Tennyson. Every year the Brisbane International is held at the centre and some smaller events are also held throughout the year.
To ensure local residents can continue to access street parking during events, the Queensland Tennis Centre Parking Area was created. On days when events are held at the Queensland Tennis Centre, a one hour parking restriction applies from 7am to 10pm to all on-street parking in the area, unless signed otherwise.
To help Brisbane motorists easily identify when they’ve parked within the Queensland Tennis Centre Parking Area, Brisbane City Council has installed high visibility traffic area information signs. These signs are located underneath street signs and complement larger signage located on roads leading into the area.
No parking is offered on-site during major tournaments and due to the parking limits in the area, public transport is recommended as the best way to get to events. For information about getting to the Queensland Tennis Centre, visit the Queensland Tennis Centre and Translink websites.
