The following closures are long-term closures on major bikeways across the city.

Note

Council ensures all organisations closing any part of a bikeway notify users of the closure and, if applicable, the detour. This applies to both short-term and long-term closures.

Central closures

The Riverwalk between One Eagle (formerly Waterfront Place) and Riparian Plaza is closed to pedestrians and cyclists/scooters until late-2025.

The closure is required to enable construction of Waterfront Brisbane and the new and improved 250-metre Riverwalk.

The adjoining access path adjacent to the Waterfront Brisbane site, running from Eagle Street to the Riverwalk near Riparian Plaza, is closed until late-January 2026.

Alternate routes are in place during the closure. These include:

  • cyclist detour via Edward Street and Elizabeth Street on the designated cycle paths
  • pedestrian detour via Felix Street and Eagle Street
  • access to the Stamford Plaza and River Hub facilities via the City Botanic Gardens Riverwalk entrance
  • all user access on the northern side of Riparian Plaza or One One One between Eagle Street and the Riverwalk.

For more information:

  • email the Waterfront Brisbane team

Pedestrian access has switched from the temporary upper pathway through C.T. White Park to the original lower riverwalk.

This is to facilitate construction works for the Kangaroo Point Bridge.

You can expect:

  • temporary changes to shared path access in C.T. White Park
  • a protective overhead gantry over a small section of the pathway with CCTV cameras
  • new signs and line markings
  • signage to direct pedestrians, cyclists, scooter riders and motorists around the work areas, as required.
