About Chermside Hills Reserves

The Chermside Hills Reserves is a network of 3 natural areas:

  • Chermside Hills Reserve
  • Raven Street Reserve
  • Milne Hill Reserve.

Covering 129 hectares, the reserves are an important part of the Mountains to Mangroves Corridor, which extends from the D'Aguilar Ranges to Boondall Wetlands and Moreton Bay.

The open eucalypt forests are perfect for bushwalking, birdwatching and relaxing in the outdoors. 

You can also visit the Downfall Creek Bushland Centre at Raven Street Reserve. Learn about the local habitat and take part in the nature-based educational programs and activities.

Travel options

  • Access Chermside Hills Reserve from Trouts Road. You’ll find parking at the entrance.
  • Access Raven Street Reserve from Rode Road. There’s a car park at Downfall Creek Bushland Centre. You can access it by Rode Road.
  • Access Milne Hill Reserve from Hamilton Road. There’s parking at the entrance.

You’ll also find toilet facilities, barbecues, boardwalks and a viewing deck with panoramic views.

You’ll also find a playground, sheltered picnic tables and electric barbecues next to the centre.

The Chermside Hills Reserves offer 11 walking tracks. Pick from easy and moderate tracks ranging from 350 metres to 1.7 kilometres. 

Glimpse Moreton Bay and surrounding mountains from the Spider Hill Outlook or go on a sensory adventure on the wheelchair-accessible Senses Trail.

Spot birds, reptiles and other wildlife when you visit Chermside Hills Reserves.

The reserves are home to:

  • turtles, fish and frogs
  • swamp wallabies, gliders and possums
  • spangled drongos, crested hawks and dollarbirds
  • water dragons, blue-tongued lizards and skinks.

Birdwatch from Little Cabbage Tree Creek Bridge, listen for the call of a scarlet pobblebonk frog or watch a wallaby graze on the grass.

The reserves are made up of open eucalypt forests, woodland and dry rainforest. They provide protection for more than 200 native plant species, including:

  • grass trees
  • banksias
  • stringybarks
  • bloodwoods
  • spotted gums
  • weeping myrtles.

Frequently asked questions

Leashed dogs are allowed in the Chermside Hills Reserves. You must clean up after your dog and dispose of the waste responsibly.

If you want to let your dog off the leash, head to the dog park near Milne Hill Reserve. Find the location on the track map.

You can ride your bike on the designated bikeway in Raven Street Reserve’s southern section, along Cabbage Tree Creek and parts of Little Cabbage Tree Creek.

When riding, there are things you must do to keep yourself and other trail users safe.

  • Keep to the left.
  • Wear a helmet.
  • Give way to pedestrians.
  • Travel at an appropriate speed.
