Created in 1914, New Farm Park is one of Brisbane’s oldest and most well-known parks. It covers 15 hectares of land and is listed in the Queensland Heritage Register

New Farm Park is just a 5-minute drive from the CBD and offers views of the Brisbane River and the city skyline.

The park is loved for its picturesque rose gardens and rotunda, adventurous kids’ playground and open spaces. It’s the perfect spot to celebrate an event or spend a relaxing day out.

Access the park via the Oxlade Drive entrance. Follow the ring road around the park.

Free parking is available on the internal ring road. Check signage for accessible parking spaces. 

There’s also free and paid parking on the streets around the park.

Note

Leashed dogs are welcome at New Farm Park. If you want to let your dog run free, head to the nearby dog off-leash area at Powerhouse Park.

Booking conditions

To book a site at New Farm Park, complete the Park Booking Application online form. 

You'll need to specify what type of event you're planning and how many people you expect to attend.

Bookings only apply to the site you choose and the use of any facilities in that site, such as a rotunda or power (if available).

You cannot book barbecues, shelters (other than the rotunda) or playgrounds for your specific use. You must share these facilities with other park visitors.  

Power points may have different phases (i.e. operate on different voltages). You should check your electronic equipment's compatibility before your event.

Restrictions on the number and size of marquees (and similar structures) apply for designated sites.

New Farm Park River Hub 

The New Farm Park River Hub offers access to New Farm Park and Brisbane Powerhouse via the Brisbane River.

It’s part of Council’s River Access Network, which gives locals and visitors more recreational, leisure and lifestyle opportunities on the river.

Using the river hub

The river hub pontoons cater to a variety of vessels and activities, including:

  • opportunities for tour boat operators to pick up and drop off passengers

  • short-term use for recreational vessels (power-driven) such as boats and jet skis 

  • short-term use for passive vessels (non power-driven) such as kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddleboards

  • designated area for potential future water taxi pick-up and drop-off.

Regulations

  • Fishing is allowed off the pontoons, but boating activities take priority. 
  • Net casting and crab pots aren’t allowed.
  • Overnight mooring isn't allowed at the hub.
  • Users of the inner fingers of the pontoon can stay for up to 2 hours. No bookings required.
  • The inner pontoons are intended for passive and recreational vessels of up to 25 tonnes.
  • The external side of the outer pontoon is intended for use by commercial and tour boat vessels of up to 200 tonnes. Pre-book your docking to moor for up to 30 minutes for pick-up and drop-off.
