Council venues and precincts

Council's libraries are vibrant and modern community spaces that help thousands of people find all sorts of information. You can also enjoy free events, classes, workshops and activities at our libraries.

There are 2180 parks (natural areas and urban parks) scattered across Brisbane ranging in size from small pocket parks to large district parks. Brisbane also has three botanic gardens and many bushland reserves. 

More than 3 million people visit Council's 22 public swimming pools each year, with our pools offering opportunities for fun, fitness and recreation.

More than 160,000 people visit the Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium each year to explore the free gallery displays or watch a show in the Cosmic Skydome, a 12.5-metre-diameter projection dome.

Mt Coot-tha precinct includes Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha, Sir Thomas Brisbane Planetarium, Visitor Information Centre, Mt Coot-tha Reserve, Mt Coot-tha Library, Toowong Cemetery and more.

Council manages 27 community halls across Brisbane that are available for community and commercial hire.
 

Visible Ink Youth Hub is Council's central hub for Brisbane's young people, aged 12-25 years, to explore new ideas, access resources, have a say and connect with community partners.

Council's iconic Brisbane City Hall is fundamental to the city's identity, government, cultural and community life. It hosts civic and community events including the popular City Hall lunchtime concerts.

King George Square is located in front of Brisbane City Hall. The square is home to a variety of events and activities and is available for hire.

Seven Hils Hub is a Council-managed community venue that includes a 155-seat theatre, outdoor courtyard with an amphitheatre, workshop, studio and rehearsal spaces.
