Kangaroo Point Bridge construction

Brisbane City Council appointed Connect Brisbane, led by BESIX Watpac, in June 2021 to design and construct the Kangaroo Point Bridge.

The Connect Brisbane consortium, led by BESIX Watpac, included Rizzani de Eccher, WSP, Dissing + Weitling, Blight Rayner, ASPECT Studios, Right Angle Studios and Rowland.

Connect Brisbane sourced more than 90 per cent of construction supplies and materials from South East Queensland businesses, with more than 1800 local jobs and over 60 apprenticeships created during construction.

As part of the project, Council also delivered new walking and riding connections from the bridge landing at Scott Street through to Main Street and Deakin Street in Kangaroo Point.

Construction activities are now complete for the Kangaroo Point Bridge and the Main Street and Deakin Street connection.

Construction updates

Major construction works commenced in 2022 and were completed in late 2024. Minor finishing works including the fit out of the above-water restaurant and riverside cafe are expected to continue in 2025.

Council thanks local residents and businesses for their patience and understanding during the delivery of this vital project.
