City Botanic Gardens Edward Street gate closure

May 2024

From late May 2024 until late September 2024, the City Botanic Gardens Edward Street gates will be closed to enable the safe construction of the CBD plaza and landing area for the Kangaroo Point Bridge.

The closure will affect pedestrians, bike and scooter riders traveling between City Botanic Gardens Bunya Walk and the CityLink Cycleway connection along Edward Street.

What to expect

During this time you should expect:

  • no access to the Bunya Walk from the Edward Street gates.
  • access to the City Botanic Gardens will be available by the Albert Street gates
  • pedestrian, bike and scooter rider detours (within the City Botanic Gardens and broader cycle network)
  • additional bike and scooter rider detours will be in place on Sundays to minimise impacts to the Riverside Markets held in the City Botanic Gardens
  • signage and traffic controllers on site to assist pedestrians, bike and scooter riders
  • existing temporary closures along the City Botanic Gardens and City Reach Boardwalk
  • access to the City Botanic Gardens River Hub will be maintained via the Bunya Walk within the City Botanic Gardens (access via Albert Street Gates).
