Brisbane Vision 2031

Brisbane Vision 2031 is Council's long-term community plan for the city. It sets the aspirations and targets for our city's future and outlines how we bring this vision to life.

The vision will ensure our city:

  • remains active, connected, well-designed and sustainable
  • is valued for its friendly character and outdoor lifestyle
  • is known for its innovation and economic prosperity.

Our accessible, connected city

Residents and visitors will get around the city safely and easily using efficient and sustainable travel options.


 

Our friendly, safe city

We’ll welcome new residents, migrants, students and visitors, celebrate cultural diversity, and support people who are disadvantaged. Our city will be safe, confident and prepared for natural hazards.
 

Our vibrant, creative city

Brisbane will be a vibrant, 24-hour, cultural city. It will attract creative endeavours, enable innovation and provide a legacy of liveability for future generations.

Our active, healthy city

People of all ages, abilities and backgrounds will have access to diverse recreational opportunities. All residents will be supported in their choice of physical activity, play or sport. 
 

Our New World City

Students, businesses, researchers, innovators and entrepreneurs from all over the world will want to live, study and work here. It will be a leading destination in the Asia-Pacific region for major events, business and tourism.

Our well-designed, subtropical city

Brisbane will be a well-designed, outdoor living city. Our buildings and spaces will maximise the region's climate and lifestyle attributes. Planning and development will prepare our city for population and employment growth.

Our healthy rivers, waterways, natural areas, parklands and biodiversity will attract businesses, residents, students and employees to live, study and work in Brisbane.

Corporate Plan

The Corporate Plan 2021-22 to 2025-26 sets out Council’s medium-term objectives to deliver Brisbane Vision 2031

It reflects our strategic direction and guides Council’s operations, activities and services.

Did you know? 

Council’s Annual Report monitors our progress against the Corporate Plan. This helps us understand what’s working and prioritise projects and services to support our community. 

Supporting strategies, plans and policies

Council strategies set the goals and direction for the city’s future. They cover a range of important areas, including the economy, infrastructure and the environment. 

These strategies and policies guide how Council is planning for Brisbane’s future. They’ll help us to achieve Brisbane Vision 2031 together with the Corporate Plan.

Brisbane Economic Development Plan

Brisbane Economic Development Plan 2012-2031 sets out the priorities and actions to prepare the city’s economy and infrastructure for future growth.

Brisbane. Clean, Green, Sustainable details Council’s approach to sustainable city development, environmental management, our clean and green goals and future aspirations for the city.

Environmental Policy

The Environmental Policy guides Council in minimising the environmental impacts of our activities while conserving and enhancing Brisbane’s biodiversity.

Local Disaster Management Plan

The plan outlines what we do before, during and after a natural disaster. It explains how Council helps the community stay safe during emergencies.
