About the light-up calendar

Brisbane’s iconic buildings, bridges and sculptures come alive through vibrant light displays for special occasions, events and campaigns.

Discover the meaning behind the colours illuminating the city’s landmarks, including the Story Bridge, using the light-up calendar.

The calendar also shows scheduled light-ups and information about what is being celebrated or promoted.

Lighting up an asset

Organisations light up Council assets to celebrate cultural festivals, bring awareness to campaigns and promote major events.

If you’re part of an eligible charity or organisation, you can apply to light up a bridge, building or sculpture.

What do the light colours mean?

The dazzling colours lighting up the city’s landmarks reflect significant occasions, events and campaigns.

For example, we light the Story Bridge red and green every December to get locals and visitors into the Christmas spirit.
