CityCat and ferry services

Planning is now underway for the retirement of some of Council's older First Generation CityCat vessels, which are now surplus to requirements. 

Ferry terminals are located along the Brisbane River from UQ St Lucia to Northshore Hamilton. Check the map to find your nearest terminal.

Council launched the first Generation 4 double-decker CityCat vessel in November 2019 providing more opportunities to connect the people and places that make our city great. 

Brisbane’s popular cross-river travel includes five KittyCats. The catamarans transport up to 60 passengers and provide Cross River and CityHopper services to major areas in the inner-city and Bulimba to Teneriffe.

Express CityCat services provide 145 express services each week (excluding weekends and public holidays). These services offer faster travel during peak periods.

Council is committed to providing safe, efficient and accessible transport networks across the city. Council’s ferry terminal upgrades program aims to ensure all future upgrades and delivery of new public transport assets, where possible, meet the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA), Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport 2002 (DSAPT) and the Disability Standards 2010 (Premises Standards).
