Access and inclusion at Council venues

Council has installed Accessible Adult Changing Facilities (AACFs) at locations across Brisbane, including Council parks, pools and other venues. AACFs enable adults with severe disabilities and their carers to visit those places, which they might not otherwise be able to do.

Brisbane City Council is improving the lifestyle of Brisbane residents by making community leased facilities more accessible.

Council has community halls available for public hire that are accessible to people with mobility impairments. Check the community halls list to find out more.

Many of Council's swimming pools are accessible to people with a disability, and have facilities such as accessible changing rooms, ramps and mobility lifts. Other pools will undergo upgrades to install such facilities in the near future.

Council offers accessibility features in a number of parks across Brisbane, including accessible and inclusive playgrounds and fully fenced playgrounds. Many parks have drinking bowls for guide dogs or companion animals.

Council's library services are offered in a variety of accessible formats, physical and online, to allow customers to choose their preferred mode of access.

Visitors to the CBD can borrow mobility devices like wheelchairs, wheeled walkers and single prams from the reception desk at City Hall, for use in the central city area.

Council has created a mobility map for Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha. This map includes information on accessible toilets, buildings and telephones, pathway gradients and more.
