Queensland's Stage Set Ablaze with an Asian Kiwi Play from Award Winning Slam Poet.

From award-winning Chinese-New Zealand writer and poet Nathan Joe, 'Scenes from a Yellow Peril' is less a play, more a series of insights, that, when taken together, expose the pain of the way in which some people are othered but whose experience will not be denied.

Composed of 14 poetic scenes smashed together to unpack the contemporary Asian experience, this explosive, uncomfortable, playful and enlightening provocation on racism speaks throughout periods of time and how universal themes of identity within culture translates to both New Zealand and Australia.

Built from a team of Brisbane's next generation of creative talent, The Reaction Theory and BIPOC Arts Australia is set to deliver the New Zealand punchy text of 'Scenes From A Yellow Peril' at Queensland Theatres Diane Cilento Studio as part of the DOOR 3 Season.
The Creative Sparks grant is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Brisbane City Council to support local arts and culture in Brisbane.
