Sandbagging sites and Resource Recovery Centres reopening

Council will reopen temporary sandbag stations and its 4 Resource Recovery Centres today (Thursday 6 March) due to changes in the weather conditions associated with Tropical Cyclone Alfred.

Resource recovery centres will re-open at 10am for residents undertaking last-minute clean-ups, while temporary sandbag sites will re-open at 10.30am until further notice.

Residents are advised that only temporary, fill-your-own sandbag locations will be reopened and Council’s permanent sandbag depot sites will not be opening.

Green waste tipping will remain free.

Resource recovery centres locations:

  • 1372 Nudgee Road, Nudgee Beach
  • 360 Sherbrooke Road, Willawong
  • 101 Upper Kedron Road, Ferny Grove
  • 728 Tilley Road, Chandler

The following sandbag sites will be reopened:

  • Mortimer Road Park, Acacia Ridge
  • Old Toowong Bowls Club, corner Gailey Road and Heroes Avenue, Toowong
  • Whites Hill Reserve, Camp Hill
  • Boondall Entertainment Centre (Car Park 2)
  • Davies Park, Montague, Road, West End
  • Murarrie Recreational Reserve, Wynnum Road, Murarrie
  • Atthows Park, Monier Road, Darra

Sand and bags will be provided at the sites and residents should bring their own shovel and cable ties.
