The race to gold - Brisbane's Games transport legacy
In July 2032, global attention will be on Brisbane and South East Queensland as athletes from more than 200 nations descend on our region for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The Games present an opportunity to create long-lasting benefits and improved transport across our region. We want to inspire people to choose different ways of getting where they need to go, and make it easier and more sustainable to travel around our region.
With only 8 years to go, it’s time to commit to the projects we need to deliver legacy benefits to our community for today, the Games and beyond.
The Games are coming to Brisbane
Home to 18+ Olympic venues
Target of 90% public and active transport to venues
The Games will create $8.1B boost to QLD's economy
Brisbane is one of the fastest growing capital cities
The race is on!
All levels of Government need to work together to transport people to the Games and keep our region moving.
Brisbane City Council’s role is to align our resources and initiate and accelerate transport improvements to enhance the quality of life for all. The race to gold – Brisbane’s Games Transport Legacy proposal outlines long-lasting benefits to our network through upgrades, expansions and enhancements.

Our golden window
Working together, Brisbane City Council, the Queensland Government, Federal Government, and the Games Venue and Legacy Delivery Authority (GVLDA) can ensure Brisbane hosts a successful Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2032 and leave a lasting transport legacy for our city. If all 3 levels of government do not partner to invest in this list of transport projects, there is a great risk to Brisbane’s success for today, the Games and beyond.
