Contemporary Art Realm and Opening event
9:00am to 9:00pm
All ages
Free entry
Between 8-10 December the Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt Coot-tha Auditorium will host an art exhibition inspired by the text ‘Garden Variety Dykes: Lesbian Traditions in Gardening’, which was edited by Irene Reti and Valerie Jean Chase in 1994.
The show will see a group of artists create new work that directly references one chapter from the heartfelt publication. The works will be accompanied by performances and public programs that deep dive into queer ecologies, put forward questions surrounding the continuation of a queer lineage in community activism and explore diverse sapphic longing in the garden space.
Includes the Opening event from 4-8pm.
