Drawing the Lotus workshop
9:30am to 12:00pm
Suitable for adults
$90
Join artist and scientific illustrator, Nicole Crosswell for Drawing the Lotus workshop at the iconic Brisbane Botanic Gardens Mt. Coot-tha. The workshop will be a 3 hour experience, held at the lotus and lily ponds, (near the Auditorium building).
Beginning with a 30 minute observation stroll, we will explore native water lilies and their surprising scent, life stages of the exotic lotus, native fish, dragonflies and native bees. We will also spot one of Australia's smallest frogs, the tiny Eastern Sedge-frog, playing hide and seek among the plate size lily pads.
The 2.5-hour drawing session will be held under marquees with chairs set up close to the edge of the ponds so we can draw in situ. We will explore the foundational elements of drawing but also connect with an energetic expressive line. Select specimens may be collected for us to work closer with. Materials we will be using are graphite, ink and watercolour.
All art materials provided. Ensure you arrive 5 minutes early for a smooth start time.
Things to bring: hat and water bottle.
