Add to Calendar 2025-03-19 12:00 2025-03-19 13:00 Australia/Brisbane Gathering - Lalania Tusa–Burrumunji <a href="https://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/community-and-safety/community-support/aboriginal-and-torres-strait-islander-programs" target="_blank">Gathering</a> presents&nbsp;<strong>Lalania Tusa-Burrumunji</strong><p>Lalania was born and raised on Kuku Yalanji Country in Mossman - Far North Queensland and enjoyed every part of growing up being connected with her Mothers family bloodlines in the Rainforest.</p><p>Lalania embodies the energies and rhythms of country, culture and community to create beautiful baskets, grass skirts, dilly bags, wall hangings and more. The shared stories, skills and weaving techniques have been passed down from her late Grandmother who would sit and teach the young cousins and aunties the Kuku Yalanji ways of weaving. Learning to weave with River grass and Black palm fibres has become a fundamental part of her weaving style.</p><p>Lalania&rsquo;s intention is to immerse herself and other souls in the sensitive space of cultural knowledge, awareness, appreciation and connection to land and sea in order to create a better understanding of First Nations cultural practices. Come down to the Queen Street Mall main stage to see Lalania&#39;s interactive weaving session. This Gathering event is produced by Cre8tiveNations.&nbsp;</p><p>Gathering showcases Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander performances in the Queen&nbsp;Street Mall.
