NEW WAVES Exhibition
All ages
Free
NEW WAVES presents a hybrid trans-disciplinary event and exhibition exploring the intersection of art and the experiences of the d/Deaf and hard-of-hearing community. Featuring art, film and music, the project seeks to draw connections between creativity and accessibility, and will be held at KEPK Studio from 26th September - 9th October in Magan-djin (Brisbane).
On Sunday 6 October 2-3.30pm, a free panel conversation explores how artists with varying levels of hearing ability integrate their unique auditory experiences into their creative work. Through both a creative and clinical lens, we will delve into the profound way that hearing, or its absence, shapes artistic expression and the creative process. This panel will be Auslan-interpreted.
NEW WAVES is made possible through a Creative Sparks grant. The Creative Sparks Grant Program is an initiative of Brisbane City Council in partnership with the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
We also gratefully acknowledge our event partners KEPK, Deaf Connect, Unico Zelo and Green Beacon Brewing Co.
