Connect with, and contemplate, artefacts from the local natural world in Brisbane, with Genevieve Staines’ current exhibition ‘Temporary Treasures’.
Visual Artist and Environmental Educator Genevieve Staines extends on her work connecting with nature as meditation with this series of drawings and watercolours from 2024. Staines lives next to bushland and works closely with various bushland and bayside reserves in Brisbane. The ‘perfect imperfections’ of leaves, seedpods and flowers are expressed by Staines in a partly realistic, partly abstract manner. Symbolising our changing climate and extinction crisis, these objects are captured as ‘temporary treasures’.
‘Temporary Treasures’ is open until 22 December at the Boondall Wetland Environment Centre.
