School recycling service

Brisbane schools that have a waste collection service with Brisbane City Council can apply for the Council school recycling service. The service provides:

  • a free recycling collection service
  • the opportunity for your school to recycle and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill.

Your school can be issued with a 240-litre or 360-litre recycling bin for every waste collection service that you are charged for, or you can receive a bulk bin equivalent (based on volume). Recycling bin sizes range from 240-litre wheelie bins to 4.5-cubic metre bulk bins.

User pays business recycling service

Brisbane schools that don't have a waste collection service with Council can apply online for Council's user pays business recycling service.

A Council officer will assess your application and phone your school to discuss the right bin to suit your needs. An onsite consultation and site inspection may be required before a service is approved.

Recycling signs

Installing signs in your school and setting up recycling hubs will give your staff and students the confidence to dispose of waste and recyclables correctly. Download the printable signs.

Materials that can't go in the comingled recycling bin, including batteries and e-waste, can be taken to any of Council's four resource recovery centres for free.

Download the Brisbane bin and recycling app for an A-Z list of recycling.
